Mindful Foods Liquorice Root is dried, cut organic liquorice root, used as a loose-leaf herbal tea and as a natural sweetener in blends. It is intensely and naturally sweet with a distinctive aniseed-like flavour, and needs no added sugar.

Mindful Foods notes that liquorice root has traditionally been used to help with digestive issues and to relieve nausea and upset stomach, and that the root has antispasmodic properties which may help with bloating and gas.

Brew a teaspoon in boiling water for several minutes, on its own or added to herbal blends where it will round out and sweeten more bitter herbs. It is naturally caffeine free. Note that liquorice root is not recommended in large quantities or for prolonged use, and people with high blood pressure or who are pregnant should seek advice before use.
