Description:

Choc Chai is a blend of two of Grounded Pleasures’ best-selling products — their Original Drinking Chocolate and their Seven Spice Chai. In the brand’s own words: "We took the finest cocoa and blended it with seven exotic spices, added a sprinkle of tea, then a dash of unrefined jaggery sugar." The result sits somewhere between a hot chocolate and a chai latte, rather than being either one on its own.

The spice bill is cinnamon, star anise, cardamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves and black pepper, carried by a natural black tea extract and sweetened with organic unrefined jaggery cane sugar. Jaggery is a whole, unrefined cane sugar, which gives the blend a darker, more molasses-like sweetness than white sugar. Because the tea is included as an extract, there is no brewing or straining step.

To prepare, whisk about one tablespoon into a cup of heated milk (dairy, soy or almond) over low heat until dissolved, or stir into cold milk and steam with a frother until silky smooth. For an iced version, mix the powder with a little water to form a paste, then pour into cold milk over ice. Store in a cool dry place away from strong odours; once opened, reseal after each use and use within four weeks.

Grounded Pleasures is proudly based in Ballarat, Victoria. A 200g box yields approximately 13 serves at 15g each, and the blend is gluten free and vegan.
